For those who already know the Galibier, why not choose from Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne the variant via the Croix-de-Fer and Glandon passes? An itinerary that will make you discover the valleys of the Oisans.

The first pass, the Croix-de-Fer could be the occasion for a break facing the Aiguilles d'Arves before continuing below towards the Glandon pass where, in good weather, you will discover a beautiful view of the Mont Blanc. Further south, Bourg d'Oisans, the gateway to the Ecrins massif, will mark the end of this stage. Unless you feel like taking on the 21 famous switchbacks of the Alpe d'Huez climb ?!

To join the main route of the Route des Grandes Alpes from Bourg d'Oisans, you will have to reach the Chambon dam and continue to the typical village of La Grave. Here, the panoramic view between the Emparis plateau and the Meije glacier is striking. A true paradise for freeride alpine skiers but also mountaineers, the legendary Barre des Ecrins is not far either ... Before reaching the Lautaret pass, you can stop at the village of Villar d'Arêne, which is also surrounded by its surroundings. exceptional and preserved.
